Tanzania Peaberry

Considered by many to be the most snappy-tasting of the African coffees, Tanzania Peaberry is treasured by many coffee connoisseurs who enjoy its special winy tones. The deep richness is noteworthy, along with a bright, lively and intense flavor for your palate. This bean develops its complex character from the coolness of the high altitude where it is harvested on the slopes of Mount Kilamanjaro near the Kenyan border.

Mexican Estates

Medium roast from Sierra Madre de Chiapas, Mexico

One of most respected coffee from Mexico, Campesinos Ecológicos de la Sierra Madre de Chiapas. This coffee is produced by Campesinos Ecológicos de la Sierra Madre de Chiapas (CESMACH), a fair-trade and organic certified coop located at the buffer zone of El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve. Up on the highlands of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas - a mountainous chain of steeps and pinnacles surpassing the 2,000 meters, surrounded by wide and numerous valleys that reach 1,000 meters above sea level, covered on the top by a soft mist which vanishes with torrential rains, is El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve. This reserve contains Mesoamerica’s largest continuous cloud forest, and it serves as a refuge to thousands of plant and animal species. El Triunfo is a rare and valuable sanctuary that requires continued protection, and CESMACH ensures this protection through various sustainable practices. All the coffee they produce is shade grown, and biological corridors are created in order to facilitate bird and animal migration. In addition, Cafe Imports pays a 20 cent per lb premium that is to be used for the continued maintenance of El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve.

Sumatra Mandheling

Medium roast from Sierra Madre Mountain Chiapas, Mexico

One of seven true biodynamic farm in the world, Finca Irlanda. Nestled in the Sierra Madre mountain range of Chiapas Mexico, Finca Irlanda is a pioneer in biodynamic farming, receiving the first such certification for coffee in the world in 1967. The unique qualities of terrier reinforced by the biodynamic agricultural practices of Finca Irlanda make it ideal. The thick crema and rich mouth feel compliment the coffee’s chocolate notes without a hint of bitterness; an incredibly rewarding finish to a meal. The principles and practices of biodynamic are based on the philosophy called anthroposophy, which includes understanding the ecological, the energetic and the spiritual in nature. Biodynamic farms are viewed as a whole organism, are virtually self-contained, and use distinct preparations, such as specially developed compost, to aid plant and soil development. “Basically, biodynamic farming is the next logical step beyond organic. Outperforming many other well balanced Central American and South American high-grown beans. Many Jinotega drinker likes to compare the fruitiness of the cupping with sister bean Pacamara Peaberry from El Salvador.

Geisha is an heirloom varietal that originated in the wild forests of Ethiopia
and was brought to Central American in the 1950’s. Grown on the La Esmeralda
Estate in micro-lots, Panama Geisha “Esmeralda Especial” coffee has an
extraordinary character, smooth fruity body surface finishing with a strong,
unbelievable sweet and caramelized aroma. Roasted stop at 1st crack.
Geisha’s citrus, honey notes and light body is unlike any other coffee on the market.
This may be the best cup of Syphone coffee that Funnel Mill has to offer.
