Matcha is a green tea powder traditionally used for Japanese tea ceremonies. Before they are ground into powder form, the tea leaves are called “Tencha.” Tencha tea leaves are made from green tea plants, Camellia Sinensis, the same plant used to make the other green teas, such as Sencha and Gun Powder. Unlike other green tea leaves that are grown in full sun, Tencha is grown in shade. Matcha acts as a strong blood detoxifier and alkalizer. Daily consumption of Matcha not only helps regulate healthy blood sugar levels. It also supports cholesterol levels within a normal range. At Funnel Mill, each perfect cup of Matcha is freshly ground into our custom-made stone mill.
